Krakow – October 16th-19th 2010
Following Jon’s surprise trip
to Berlin last year we’ve made
it a yearly birthday tradition…
well so far anyway… it’s
definitely a tradition that Jon
pays though ; )
Anyway – it’s a good excuse
to try out things before the
official travelling!!!
Day One
Not convinced that the 7:15am was the best option, especially since we seemed to have Dumb and Dumber behind us who seemed to still be drunk from the night before and over a two and a half hour period managed to offend everyone in the audible vicinity. However, we managed to shake them off at Balice Airport and after us looking like Jonny English and Co hovering around the bus ticket machine for about 20 minutes we purchased our passes only to immediately decide we should get a taxi if we were to make the Cycling Tour we wanted to go on… or I did (Helen) and I’m the boss : )

Why do Cruiser type bikes make you feel about 5 again?!!
I don’t know but awesome time with the wind in our hair, dodging pedestrians and unclipping non-existing cleats at every stop. Met some great guys from NZ so we grilled them mid-cycle… until Jon and two of them decided to work on improving their Cruiser/BMX stunts…
Saw most of the inner city sights during the 4 hour tour – our poor Polish guide (knelt down) did really well to get through everything considering the 12 year old boy type distractions… saw the main square, University, Jewish Quarter and the medieval castle etc but clearly the best bit was the sprint along the river… after all that all we needed
was some food and as it had gone a little
chilly… a Krupnik or two to warm us up
whilst people watching. We were sitting
outside and the combination of the
patio heaters, complimentary blankets and
sherry style blankets really
gave us and insight into our future in an Old
Peoples’ Retirement home – can’t be that
bad!
